IBPS PO Prelims Preparation, Syllabus & Practice

IBPS PO preparation combines English language skills, quantitative aptitude and reasoning with careful time management. Start by identifying the recruitment cycle, then use its official notification to set your practice conditions. Build accuracy in individual topics before relying on full-length scores.

Check the right IBPS PO notification

IBPS publishes CRP PO/MT-XVI information on its official recruitment page. Read the detailed notice and later updates for eligibility, stages, section timings and marking rules. The recruitment-cycle number and the year in which vacancies are filled are not interchangeable.

Prelims is one part of the process. Plan time for the later stages specified by the notification as well. Do not assume an old mock test has the correct section distribution simply because its title includes the current year.

English, quant and reasoning priorities

For English, practise reading comprehension, grammar in context and choosing words that fit a sentence. For quantitative aptitude, build fluency with percentages, ratios, averages and arithmetic before increasing the complexity of data interpretation. For reasoning, practise inequalities, syllogisms and arrangement sets while checking each constraint.

Maintain separate accuracy and time records for each area. A topic with high accuracy but slow execution needs a different remedy from a topic with fast, unreliable guesses. Work on one issue at a time so that the effect of practice is visible.

Original prelims practice without registration

These worked examples are readable on this page without an account. They are original practice questions, not IBPS previous-year questions and not a full-length online mock test.

Quantitative aptitude: A branch processes 240 requests on Monday and 300 on Tuesday. What is the percentage increase?
Answer: The increase is 60. Divide by Monday's base of 240: 60/240 x 100 = 25%.

Reasoning: All managers are employees. Some employees are graduates. Must some managers be graduates?
Answer: No. The information does not establish an overlap between managers and graduates. A conclusion must follow from the statements, not from real-world expectations.

English: Choose the correct form: 'Neither of the two statements ___ supported by the passage.'
Answer: 'is'. The subject 'neither' is singular in this construction.

How to review a prelims mock test

Review the easiest missed questions first, then the sets where time ran out. For a puzzle, write the constraint that you overlooked. For a calculation, identify whether the setup or arithmetic failed. For English, explain why the incorrect option was tempting and why the selected answer fits the passage or sentence.

Repeat short sets after correcting the method. Introduce sectional timing from the current notification once accuracy is stable. A useful weekly plan has both timed practice and untimed learning; repeatedly testing an unresolved weakness usually repeats the same result.

IBPS PO practice questions answered

Can I practise without registering?
The original worked questions above need no registration. GoodPillars' practice app uses a sign-in page; check the app for available tests and access terms. We do not describe a login-required test as registration-free.

Are SBI PO and IBPS PO identical?
No. Some skills overlap, but each recruitment notice defines its own process and paper structure. Use the separate SBI PO guide when that is your target.

Where should I check notification changes?
Use the official IBPS recruitment page and the relevant corrigenda, rather than an old preparation article.
