TEACHING EXAMS
CTET Syllabus, Paper I & II Pattern and Preparation
CTET is the Central Teacher Eligibility Test conducted by CBSE. Choose the paper that matches the teaching level you are targeting, then prepare both subject understanding and pedagogy. Knowing a school topic and knowing how children learn it are related but different skills.

CTET Paper I and Paper II
In the linked September 2026 bulletin, Paper I is for Classes I-V and Paper II for Classes VI-VIII. Each has 150 multiple-choice questions for 150 marks and a duration of two and a half hours. Refer to the bulletin for eligibility and all examination conditions.
Paper I covers child development and pedagogy, two languages, mathematics and environmental studies. Paper II includes child development and pedagogy, two languages, and the relevant mathematics/science or social studies component. Select the appropriate subject option using the bulletin.
Study pedagogy through classroom situations
For each topic, ask what a child might misunderstand and how a teacher could investigate that misunderstanding. Compare an approach that only supplies the answer with one that helps the learner explain their reasoning. Link learning theories to classroom examples rather than memorising isolated names.
When reviewing a pedagogy question, identify the learning objective, the evidence available about the child and the effect of the proposed teacher response. This makes it easier to reject options that sound encouraging but do not address the actual problem.
Original classroom practice example
Question: A learner says that 1/8 is greater than 1/4 because 8 is greater than 4. What is a useful next teaching step?
Answer: Use equal-sized wholes partitioned into four and eight parts, and ask the learner to compare one part from each. The misconception concerns the size of fractional parts; simply repeating the rule does not reveal why the comparison changes.
This is an original illustrative question, not an official CTET item. Extend it by changing the fractions and asking the learner to explain the comparison with a diagram.
Build a CTET revision routine
Alternate subject practice with pedagogy. After a mathematics set, review how the same topic could be taught; after a language passage, examine comprehension and language-learning issues separately. Schedule revision of earlier topics so that a strong first reading is not mistaken for long-term recall.
Use timed papers to check pacing only after identifying the correct paper and subject combination. During review, separate a subject-knowledge gap from misunderstanding of the question's teaching context. Those errors require different kinds of revision.
CTET questions answered
Does passing CTET guarantee a teaching job?
No. Teacher eligibility and recruitment are separate processes. Check the relevant recruiting body's notice.
Can I prepare for both papers?
Check the official eligibility requirements first. Where eligible, plan separately for the distinct subject content in each paper.
Where should I check CTET dates?
Use the CTET public notices and the bulletin for your cycle. Do not infer a future session from an earlier calendar.
