SBI PO Exam Preparation, Prelims Skills & Study Plan
SBI PO is State Bank of India's Probationary Officer recruitment. English, quantitative aptitude and reasoning practice form a useful foundation, but the SBI advertisement must guide the exact examination structure. Do not assume an IBPS timetable or an older SBI paper has the current rules.

Use SBI's own recruitment notice

The official SBI result page records the 2026 PO preliminary examinations as held on 1 and 2 August 2026. Those dates are historical, not an upcoming examination schedule. Use the next relevant advertisement for a future application.
Prelims preparation priorities
Build reliable arithmetic methods before chasing speed. For data interpretation, read the units and denominators first. In reasoning, separate fixed information from conditional information and test whether a proposed arrangement satisfies every condition. In English, work on comprehension and grammar through complete sentences.
Use a diagnostic paper to choose your priorities. If you understand a topic but consistently run out of time, practise smaller timed sets. If answers are wrong even without a clock, return to the method and work through examples slowly.
Original data-interpretation example
Question: Of 500 applications, 60% are complete. One-fifth of those complete applications require an additional check. How many is that?
Solution: Complete applications = 0.60 x 500 = 300. One-fifth of 300 is 60. The second fraction applies to the complete group, not to all 500 applications.
This original example tests the choice of base. When reviewing a similar error, write which group each percentage refers to before doing the arithmetic. This habit also helps with longer tables and charts.
Prepare for the full recruitment process
Read the later-stage requirements at the start of preparation so that you can allocate time beyond Prelims. Keep concise notes on relevant banking and economic developments, and practise explaining a subject clearly when the current process includes a written or spoken assessment.
Separate your study plan from official eligibility decisions. Qualification dates, age rules, permitted attempts and category provisions must be read from the advertisement that applies to you.

How many attempts should I make in a mock?
There is no universal number. Analyse accuracy, time and marking rules across several tests before changing your approach.
