Candidates must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent from a recognised board. For Data Entry Operator posts in the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, candidates need Class 12 in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject. No graduation is required for any CHSL post.
The age bracket is 18 to 27 years. Upper age limits are relaxed by three years for OBC (non-creamy layer), five years for SC and ST, and ten years for persons with benchmark disabilities, with further provisions for ex-servicemen and departmental candidates. The minimum age of 18 applies to every category.
Selection runs through Tier 1, Tier 2 and document verification. Tier 1 is qualifying and used to shortlist candidates for Tier 2; the final merit list is prepared from Tier 2 marks. The Session II skill or typing test is qualifying in nature, but failing it removes you from consideration regardless of your written score, so typing speed deserves real practice rather than a week of preparation before the test.
