01 / PREPARATION GUIDE

Overview and selection

IBPS RRB PO is the common preparation name for Officer Scale I recruitment in Regional Rural Banks. It is distinct from IBPS PO recruitment for participating public-sector banks. Check the current notification for degree, local-language, age and other eligibility conditions.

Officer Scale I selection includes prelims, mains and an interview under the applicable notification. Do not apply Office Assistant selection rules or Scale II/III patterns to Scale I. Begin with the two prelims subjects, while gradually building mains awareness, computer knowledge and language preparation.

Pattern reference: IBPS CRP RRBs XIV 2025: historical pattern reference

Current-cycle check: CRP RRBs XV is the 2026 recruitment cycle. The detailed pattern tables below use the verified 2025 reference, not an assumed unchanged 2026 scheme. Read the 2026 notification and corrigenda

03 / PREPARATION GUIDE

Detailed syllabus

The topic map below is preparation guidance, not guaranteed chapter weightage. Use the official syllabus and information handout as the complete authority for your post and cycle.

Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation

  • Arithmetic: Percentages, ratio, averages, interest, profit, mixtures, work and speed.
  • Numerical skills: Approximation, simplification, number series and basic algebra.
  • Data sets: Tables, bar and line charts, caselets, comparisons and multi-step calculations.

Practice priority: Estimate first to check plausibility, then calculate. For a data set, note the base, units and period. Do not spend an entire sectional timer on one difficult set.

Reasoning Ability

  • Foundations: Inequalities, syllogisms, coding, directions, relationships and ordering.
  • Sets: Seating arrangements, scheduling, distribution and constraint-based puzzles.
  • Mains preparation: Input-output and critical reasoning practice, with complexity matched to the official handout.

Practice priority: Write confirmed facts before assumptions. For a puzzle, test contradictions and abandon an inefficient case early. Review whether the mistake was a wrong condition or a slow representation.

Mains Language Preparation: English or Hindi

  • Grammar and usage: Agreement, tense, articles, prepositions, error identification and sentence improvement.
  • Vocabulary: Word meaning, opposites, spelling, idioms and contextual word choice.
  • Comprehension: Passages, cloze exercises and sentence ordering; distinguish evidence from an unsupported inference.
  • Hindi option: Use the corresponding comprehension, grammar and vocabulary practice for Hindi if that is your chosen mains option. English samples below do not cover Hindi preparation.

Practice priority: Read a short passage and justify each answer from its wording. Write example sentences for vocabulary. In grammar review, name the rule rather than simply copying the corrected sentence.

Banking, Economy and Financial Awareness

  • Concepts: Bank functions, deposits, lending, digital payment systems and basic financial terminology.
  • Economic context: Inflation, fiscal and monetary policy, financial institutions and economic indicators.
  • Dated developments: Policy announcements and banking events verified from RBI, bank or government publications.

Practice priority: Explain a concept in plain language before memorising a figure. Use dated notes for policy changes. Separate evergreen definitions from current numbers that need rechecking.

Computer Knowledge

  • Fundamentals: Hardware, memory, input/output devices, software and operating systems.
  • Everyday tasks: Word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet use and basic office operations.
  • Digital safety: Recognising phishing, safe account practices and handling links or attachments cautiously.

Practice priority: Practise real office tasks rather than only memorising shortcuts. Explain the purpose of a spreadsheet formula and verify a sender independently before opening an unexpected attachment.

04 / PREPARATION GUIDE

Previous-year paper resources

Use the official IBPS recruitment page for information handouts, test instructions and current notices. A verified public archive of full official RRB PO previous-year papers was not established. Label any reconstructed paper as memory-based, identify its year and source, and independently check its solutions.

Review a paper: identify the year, post and stage; attempt it before reading solutions. Separate concept errors, calculation errors and guesses. A previous-year paper test should use an authentic paper or clearly identify that it is a reconstruction.

Quantitative Aptitude

QUESTION 01 / QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE

A train travels 150 km in 3 hours at constant speed. What is its speed?

  • A. 50 km/h
  • B. 60 km/h
  • C. 30 km/h
  • D. 45 km/h

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: A. Speed equals distance divided by time: 150 / 3 = 50 km/h.

Common mistake: Identify the base, units and operation before calculating. Check the answer by substitution or estimation instead of relying only on speed.

QUESTION 02 / QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE

The average of five numbers is 18. If one number, 30, is removed, what is the average of the remaining four?

  • A. 18
  • B. 22.5
  • C. 15
  • D. 12

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: C. The original sum is 5 x 18 = 90. Removing 30 leaves 60. Divide by the four remaining numbers: 60 / 4 = 15. The number of observations changes with the removal.

Common mistake: Do not subtract 30 directly from the average or keep dividing by five.

QUESTION 03 / QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE

A product costs Rs 800 and is sold for Rs 920. What is the profit percentage?

  • A. 18%
  • B. 20%
  • C. 12%
  • D. 15%

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: D. Profit is 920 - 800 = 120. Profit percentage uses cost price: 120 / 800 x 100 = 15%.

Common mistake: Profit percentage uses cost price, not selling price. Dividing 120 by 920 gives a different measure.

QUESTION 04 / QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE

What is the next number: 5, 11, 23, 47, ?

  • A. 96
  • B. 71
  • C. 94
  • D. 95

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: D. Each number is twice the preceding number plus one: 5 x 2 + 1 = 11, then 23 and 47. Applying the same rule gives 47 x 2 + 1 = 95.

Common mistake: Verify a rule across all transitions. Doubling only the final term gives 94 and misses the added one.

QUESTION 05 / QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE

A vehicle travels 180 km in 3 hours at a constant speed. What is its speed?

  • A. 60 km/h
  • B. 90 km/h
  • C. 30 km/h
  • D. 45 km/h

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: A. Speed is distance divided by time: 180 / 3 = 60 km/h.

Common mistake: Identify the base, units and operation before calculating. Check the answer by substitution or estimation instead of relying only on speed.

QUESTION 06 / QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE

What is the area of a rectangle 8 m long and 5 m wide?

  • A. 13 square metres
  • B. 26 square metres
  • C. 40 square metres
  • D. 80 square metres

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: C. Area is length x width: 8 x 5 = 40 square metres.

Common mistake: Identify the base, units and operation before calculating. Check the answer by substitution or estimation instead of relying only on speed.

Reasoning Ability

QUESTION 07 / REASONING ABILITY

In a row, Neha is 7th from the left and 9th from the right. How many people are in the row?

  • A. 16
  • B. 17
  • C. 14
  • D. 15

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: D. Count people on both sides plus Neha once. Total is 7 + 9 - 1 = 15. The subtraction corrects the fact that Neha appears in both position counts.

Common mistake: Adding the two positions without subtracting one counts the same person twice.

QUESTION 08 / REASONING ABILITY

Complete the series: 3, 8, 15, 24, ?

  • A. 32
  • B. 33
  • C. 35
  • D. 36

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: C. The differences are 5, 7 and 9. The next difference is 11, giving 24 + 11 = 35.

Common mistake: Look at consecutive differences before guessing from the answer options. Check the rule against every given term.

QUESTION 09 / REASONING ABILITY

A > B and B = C. Which statement must be true?

  • A. A < C
  • B. A = C
  • C. A > C
  • D. C > A

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: C. Substitute C for B in the first relation. A is greater than C.

Common mistake: Replace equal quantities before comparing. The relation A > B remains strict when B is replaced by C.

QUESTION 10 / REASONING ABILITY

Among 40 students, 25 like tea, 20 like coffee and 10 like both. How many like neither?

  • A. 0
  • B. 5
  • C. 10
  • D. 15

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: B. Students liking at least one drink number 25 + 20 - 10 = 35; subtract the overlap once because it was counted twice. Those liking neither are 40 - 35 = 5.

Common mistake: Adding 25 and 20 without correcting the overlap overcounts. Draw a two-set diagram to separate both, only one and neither.

QUESTION 11 / REASONING ABILITY

Complete the sequence 2, 6, 12, 20, ?

  • A. 28
  • B. 30
  • C. 32
  • D. 36

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: B. Differences are 4, 6 and 8; the next is 10, yielding 30.

Common mistake: Use only the stated conditions. A possible conclusion is not necessarily a conclusion that must follow; draw a diagram when relationships are involved.

QUESTION 12 / REASONING ABILITY

All cashiers are employees. No employee is a visitor. Which conclusion must follow?

  • A. All visitors are cashiers
  • B. Some visitors are employees
  • C. Some cashiers are visitors
  • D. No cashier is a visitor

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: D. The cashier group is entirely inside the employee group. Since the employee and visitor groups do not overlap, no cashier can be a visitor. This follows even without knowing how many cashiers exist.

Common mistake: Do not invent an overlap ruled out by the second statement. A set diagram makes the exclusion explicit.

English Language for Mains

QUESTION 13 / ENGLISH LANGUAGE FOR MAINS

Read: The library extended its opening hours because students needed evening access. Why were the hours extended?

  • A. Because the library closed permanently
  • B. To replace every printed book
  • C. To reduce evening access
  • D. Because students needed evening access

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: D. The reason is explicitly introduced by because. Students needed access in the evening, so the library extended its hours. The passage supplies no evidence for permanent closure or replacing books.

Common mistake: Answer from the passage. A plausible outside explanation is not a supported reading-comprehension answer.

QUESTION 14 / ENGLISH LANGUAGE FOR MAINS

Choose the connector: The team checked the data twice; ___, a small error remained.

  • A. unless
  • B. therefore
  • C. nevertheless
  • D. because

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: C. Nevertheless introduces a contrast between careful checking and an error still remaining. Therefore would suggest the error resulted from the checking, which is not the intended relationship.

Common mistake: Identify the logical relationship before selecting a connector: contrast differs from cause, condition and consequence.

QUESTION 15 / ENGLISH LANGUAGE FOR MAINS

Choose the correctly spelt word.

  • A. Accommodation
  • B. Accommadation
  • C. Accomodation
  • D. Acommodation

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: A. Accommodation has a double c and a double m. Review the entire word rather than only its first syllable.

Common mistake: Check the sentence structure and the evidence in the passage. A familiar word or plausible outside fact does not automatically fit the question.

QUESTION 16 / ENGLISH LANGUAGE FOR MAINS

Choose the correct sentence using did not.

  • A. He does not went to the meeting.
  • B. He did not goes to the meeting.
  • C. He did not went to the meeting.
  • D. He did not go to the meeting.

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: D. The auxiliary did already expresses past tense. The main verb following did not takes its base form, go. Went and goes therefore cannot follow did not in this construction.

Common mistake: Avoid marking the past tense twice. After did or did not, check for a base-form verb.

QUESTION 17 / ENGLISH LANGUAGE FOR MAINS

Choose the passive form of: The committee approved the proposal.

  • A. The proposal approved the committee.
  • B. The proposal was approved by the committee.
  • C. The proposal is approving the committee.
  • D. The proposal has approve the committee.

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: B. The active sentence is in the simple past. Make the object the new subject, use was plus the past participle approved, and introduce the agent with by. The meaning and tense remain unchanged.

Common mistake: Do not change past tense to present tense or reverse who performed the action.

QUESTION 18 / ENGLISH LANGUAGE FOR MAINS

Choose the correct phrase: Neither of the two proposals ___ accepted.

  • A. was
  • B. have
  • C. were
  • D. are

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: A. Neither is singular here, so the singular past-tense verb was is appropriate.

Common mistake: The word neither is the subject here. The plural noun inside the following phrase does not determine the verb.

Banking and Financial Awareness

QUESTION 19 / BANKING AND FINANCIAL AWARENESS

Which statement correctly distinguishes a percentage point from a percentage change?

  • A. A rise from 4% to 5% is one percentage point
  • B. A rise from 4% to 5% is always only a 1% relative increase
  • C. Percentage points and percentages always mean the same thing
  • D. Percentages cannot be compared

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: A. The arithmetic difference between 5% and 4% is one percentage point. Relative to the original 4%, the increase is 1/4 = 25%. These are two different measures of the same movement.

Common mistake: Name the measure explicitly. Confusing percentage points with relative percentage change can distort economic comparisons.

QUESTION 20 / BANKING AND FINANCIAL AWARENESS

A demand curve ordinarily relates which two variables, holding other factors constant?

  • A. Colour and spelling
  • B. Only two years
  • C. Population and latitude in every case
  • D. Price and quantity demanded

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: D. The curve describes the relationship between a good’s price and the quantity demanded under stated conditions. The assumption that other factors are held constant separates this relationship from shifts caused by other changes.

Common mistake: A change in another demand determinant is not merely movement along the same curve.

QUESTION 21 / BANKING AND FINANCIAL AWARENESS

Which distinction between nominal and real values is correct?

  • A. Real and nominal always mean the same thing
  • B. Real values exclude all quantities
  • C. Real values adjust for price-level changes
  • D. Nominal values always adjust for inflation

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: C. Nominal values are measured at current prices, while real measures adjust for price changes to support comparison. A rise in nominal output alone need not establish the same rise in production volume.

Common mistake: Distinguish price changes from changes in the underlying quantity.

QUESTION 22 / BANKING AND FINANCIAL AWARENESS

What does KYC stand for in a banking context?

  • A. Keep Your Cash
  • B. Know Your Customer
  • C. Key Yield Calculation
  • D. Known Yearly Credit

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: B. KYC means Know Your Customer. It concerns customer identification and related due-diligence requirements, rather than a calculation of interest or an instruction to hold cash.

Common mistake: Understand the purpose as well as the abbreviation. Detailed requirements should be checked against current official guidance.

QUESTION 23 / BANKING AND FINANCIAL AWARENESS

What is opportunity cost?

  • A. The value of the next-best alternative forgone
  • B. Every expense added together
  • C. Only an item’s market price
  • D. A guaranteed profit

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: A. When resources are used for one choice, another feasible choice is given up. Opportunity cost concerns the next-best alternative, rather than the sum of every imaginable alternative.

Common mistake: A zero monetary payment does not necessarily imply zero opportunity cost.

QUESTION 24 / BANKING AND FINANCIAL AWARENESS

A sustained rise in the general price level is called what?

  • A. Deflation
  • B. Inflation
  • C. Depreciation of every asset
  • D. Balanced trade

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: B. Inflation concerns the general price level, not merely the price change of one item.

Common mistake: Separate a level, change, rate and percentage point. Explain the concept before applying it to a numerical example.

Computer Knowledge

QUESTION 25 / COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE

Which web-address prefix indicates an HTTPS connection?

  • A. mailto:
  • B. http://
  • C. https://
  • D. file://

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: C. The https scheme indicates HTTP over a secured transport connection. It differs from plain HTTP, a local-file reference and an email link. However, an encrypted connection alone does not prove that the website operator is trustworthy.

Common mistake: Do not equate HTTPS with a guarantee that a page is legitimate. Check the domain and the request being made too.

QUESTION 26 / COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE

Which is a common purpose of a spreadsheet cell reference?

  • A. Refer to a value in another cell within a calculation
  • B. Increase a screen’s physical size
  • C. Act as an email password
  • D. Measure electrical resistance

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: A. A cell reference identifies a cell whose value can be used by a formula. When that value changes, the calculation can use the new input. A reference differs from an unrelated system setting or credential.

Common mistake: Check that a formula refers to the intended input cell, not merely a nearby cell.

QUESTION 27 / COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE

Which is a safe response to an unexpected email asking for your banking password?

  • A. Open its attachment
  • B. Verify through the bank's official channel
  • C. Forward your password to a friend
  • D. Reply with the password

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: B. Do not disclose passwords or follow unverified links. Independently contact the bank through a trusted official channel.

Common mistake: Distinguish a device, application, operation and security practice. A familiar technical term does not make an unrelated option correct.

QUESTION 28 / COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE

Which is the strongest general password practice?

  • A. Reuse a short password everywhere
  • B. Use unique strong passwords and additional authentication
  • C. Share passwords with unknown callers
  • D. Publish recovery codes

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: B. Unique passwords limit reuse risk; additional authentication adds a safeguard. Recovery codes should remain private.

Common mistake: Distinguish a device, application, operation and security practice. A familiar technical term does not make an unrelated option correct.

QUESTION 29 / COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE

What is a backup primarily intended to provide?

  • A. A recoverable copy of data
  • B. A guarantee against every possible loss
  • C. A substitute for understanding permissions
  • D. A way to make every file public

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: A. A backup preserves a copy that can support recovery after a loss or failure. Its value depends on suitable retention, integrity and recovery checks. It should not automatically change the confidentiality of the data.

Common mistake: A copy that cannot be restored may not fulfil the recovery purpose.

QUESTION 30 / COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE

In a spreadsheet, A1 contains 10 and A2 contains 20. What is the result of =SUM(A1:A2)?

  • A. 20
  • B. 30
  • C. 1020
  • D. 10

Reveal answer and detailed solution

Answer: B. The range A1:A2 includes both cells. SUM adds the numeric values, giving 10 + 20 = 30. It does not concatenate the digits or select just one cell.

Common mistake: Read the colon as a range boundary. Addition and text concatenation are different operations.

06 / PREPARATION GUIDE

Mock-test review and weak-area revision

Start by topic: choose a chapter from your syllabus and revise its method before practising. Subject-wise mock tests combine related topics; chapter-wise tests isolate one concept. The original sets above are untimed practice, so record your own attempts if you use them for revision.

Move to a verified mock: compare the test distribution, sectional timing and marking scheme with your actual cycle. A free mock test or free test series must be identified as free in its current access terms; the app link below is not a guarantee of free full-length tests for this exam.

Analyse the attempt: record correct, wrong and skipped questions, accuracy and time. For topic-wise weak-area analysis, classify mistakes by chapter and reason rather than treating every low score as the same problem.

Compare by exam: keep results from the same exam stage together. Use mock test performance analysis to decide your next revision task, not as a prediction of selection. Reattempt missed concepts after a gap.
